Transforming environments into assistive partners.
From smart homes to inclusive workplaces, our research focuses on unobtrusive technology that supports safety, autonomy, and access.
Empowering Smart, Inclusive Spaces for Independent Living
We develop smart spaces that support learning, working, and living—especially for aging populations and people with disabilities. By embedding technology into everyday environments, CDAT is creating new models for safety, autonomy, and community engagement.
- Embedding Independence: Our research into smart homes and spaces explores unobtrusive monitoring and responsive prompts for activities of daily living (ADLs). This allows individuals to live independently while remaining safely connected to caregivers and clinicians.
- Mitigating Mobility Barriers: We design spaces that facilitate telemedicine and telework, ensuring that reduced mobility does not limit an individual's access to healthcare, education, or employment opportunities.
- Point-of-Performance Support: By using machine learning and wearable technologies, we create environments that provide real-time prompts and feedback in classrooms and workplaces to optimize healthy and independent functioning.
