The Center for Community-Driven Assistive Technologies (CDAT) was established in 2025 at Lehigh University. The overarching goal of CDAT is to positively impact the lives of persons with disabilities (PwDs) across the lifespan by creating and evaluating assistive technologies. Learn more about our team and core research activities.

The center will conduct research that aims to:

  • Promote the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities in the Lehigh Valley and eastern PA/western NJ region
  • Foster integration of disability-related interventions across systems (e.g., health bureaus, city government, healthcare, industry/businesses, schools, and families)
  • Develop, evaluate, and widely disseminate new technologies that prevent, diagnose, monitor, and improve the lives of PwDs outside of healthcare settings
  • Address the increased risks experienced by PwDs throughout their lifespan including significant challenges related to education attainment, social relationships, physical and mental health, employment, independent living, and quality of life
